A couple years ago, I picked up a large box of bulk film in 35mm, 16mm, and one large can of 70mm film. This 70mm film is Kodak 2476 “Shellburst” film. A few people I’ve spoken to said they used this extra red sensitive film while in the military to record explosions against a blue sky. I was intrigued, and I knew exactly where I needed to use this film. (Details to come). Intrigued or not, I did not own any 70mm equipment. I tried slitting this film down to 120 and had rolling it with backing paper, but that is exactly as much fun as it sounds. Well, the internet came through! I mentioned the project I was looking at, and people sent me 70mm equipment from all over the world. Starting with a 70mm film back for my Mamiya RB67, followed by several 70mm cartridges, some 70mm canisters, and even a pack of 70mm print file sleeves.
Shooting starts early January and should finish by the end of February. The only way I can develop this is one roll at a time with a hot glue and insanity modified Patterson reel. If anyone had any suggestions for development, please pass them along.
